A system for parallel measurement of glottis opening and larynx position
نویسندگان
چکیده
The simultaneous assessment of the status of the glottis opening and the position of the larynx can be beneficial for the diagnosis of disorders of voice production and swallowing. The method presented here makes use of a time-multiplex algorithm for the measurement of space-resolved transfer impedances through the larynx. The fast sequence of measurements allows a quasi simultaneous assessment of both larynx position and EGG signal in 32 channels. First results indicate a high potential of the method for use as a non-invasive tool in the diagnosis of voice dysfunction, ventricular fold phonation and swallowing disorders.

Calibration of External Lighting and Sensing Photoglottograph
Observation and measurement of vocal folds vibration and glottal opening during speech requires techniques as little invasive as possible for the subject. The LPP has developed the External Photoglottograph (ePGG) system. It consists of illuminating the glottis through the neck skin with an infrared light and recording light variation intensity modulated by glottal movement with a photodiode pl...
متن کاملOpening and closing mechanisms of the leatherback sea turtle larynx: a crucial role for the tongue.
A combination of dissection and computed tomography scanning has provided significant novel insights into the structure and function of the Dermochelys coriacea larynx and its associated muscles. Several previously unknown features of the laryngeal aditus (glottis) are described and their functional significance in its opening and closure are considered. The tongue plays an essential part in pr...
متن کاملModelling of Human Glottis in VLSI for Low Power Architectures
The Glottal Source is an important component of voice as it can be considered as the excitation signal to the voice apparatus. Nowadays, new techniques of speech processing such as speech recognition and speech synthesis use the glottal closure and opening instants. Current models of the glottal waves derive their shape from approximate information rather than from exactly measured data. Genera...
متن کاملInflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor of the Larynx: A Case Report
Introduction: Inflammatory myofibroblastic pseudotumors are initially described in the lung and various extrapulmonary sites such as the orbits, palatine tonsils, ears, gingiva, pterygomaxillary space, and periodontal tissues. These tumors rarely involve the larynx and predilection to the glottis occurs in an indolent manner. Case Report This case describes a laryngeal myofibroblastic tumor i...
متن کامل[Laryngeal movements during wind instruments play].
Historically, the concern of wind instrumentalists has been diaphragm control and embouchure. Laryngeal movement during "blow" has been overlooked or neglected by wind musicians. It has been said that musical tone has to be produced by the resonances of the player's air column by opening his larynx during blow. In the present study, fiberscopic observations of the larynx during blow revealed th...
